EFT – Why Those Points?
The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping points can be thought of as the electrical outlets for your body’s energy system. The Chinese have been aware of energy meridians by which energy flows. This system is very complicate; however, the energy meridians (or electrical pathways) have definite points where they start and stop. These points coincide with the EFT tapping points. It is not necessary to understand which points are associated with what body systems or emotional systems, but if you are disinctive, here is some basic information.
The eyebrow point (EB) is associated with the bladder meridian. This can be a very useful identify when there is trauma, frustration, or restlessness. In the traditional Chinese system, this meridian is acknowledged as the storehouse of the emotions. The under eye point (UE) is associated with the stomach meridian. It is a useful identify for addressing anxiety, nervousness, phobias, and cravings. In the Chinese system, this meridian is involved in learning new materials and new ideas.
The point under the nose (UN) is associated with the Governing canal. This point can be useful for feelings of embarrassment or meaningful psychological reversal (resistance). In the Chinese system this meridian is associated with transitions of all types. The chin or under lip point (UL) is associated with the Central canal. This is useful in dealing with shame or psychological reversal (resistance), In the Chinese system this meridian is associated with letting go of before useful ideas, things, or emotions. There are many systems of meridian tapping that use other acupuncture points in addition. You may see reference to points on the fingers that are associated with lung, large intestine, circulation/sex, and heart meridians. You may also see reference to a identify on the back of the hand called the gamut identify that is associated with the triple heater/thyroid meridian. Tapping on these spots may provide additional benefits for physical and emotional health, but are less commonly used than the ones mentioned above.
No matter which points you use, remember that meridian tapping and EFT are valuable tools in managing our body’s energy system. If you are unfamiliar with the techniques, seek expert guidance. If you already practice EFT – Happy Tapping.
